Executive Address

February 2021

Opinions, when did having an opinion—wait, having a difference of opinion, become wrong, and a personal attack?  Has COVID-19 and the current political climate brainwashed us into believing that it is ok to judge people, but it is not okay for you to disagree with one another?

Nearly every topic/issue I deal with today is controversial, and very rarely do I agree with the position taken by the presenter of said topic/issue, but that does not entitle me to disrespect that person because I disagree…In fact, I tell most people, “We can agree to disagree right now”. I believe because I’m upfront about it, I have earned the respect (or at least the perceived respect) from some of these people.

I miss the days of open, honest, and healthy discussions and debate.  However, as we move into the future, we need to take a step back and recognize that we are all entitled to our own opinion, and more often than not, it’s not expressed to be hurtful.  The only way to find solutions to the burdens we face, is to work together despite our differences.  Having an opinion, a difference of opinion, is healthy and often needed.  Remember it is not about you, it is really about us.  In the meantime, MCFB will continue to do its part to have those open, honest, and healthy discussions and debate as we represent your interests in these challenging times. Feel free to contact us with anything specific you might be struggling with; we are more than happy to help where we can.

Stay safe!
